The election of Church Council members will take place Saturday 12/12/2020 and Sunday 12/13/2020. Your vote matters, please make it count. If you are voting on Saturday, your paper ballot will be collected during the outdoor worship service which begins at 3:30 pm. If you are voting on Sunday, you may also cast your paper ballot during worship, beginning at 10:00 am. There will be a basket in the narthex for completed ballots. For those who are attending worship online, Good Hope’s website will have a link available for you to vote. The link will only work from 10 am-11 am on Sunday, Please take care when filling out this year’s ballot. You may vote for no more than 6 nominees. Any ballot with more than 6 people selected will be considered invalid. No new nominations will be taken from the floor. A brief biography of this year’s nominees can be found on the next page.

Cynthia Anderson, together with her recently deceased husband Norm, has 9 children and 15 grandchildren. Along with her siblings, Ed Keich and Diane Pallai, she is proud to be a life-long member of Good Hope and that her grandparents were charter members. Cynthia is a retired English and French teacher and currently serves as a docent at the Butler Institute of American Art. She serves here as a lay reader, assisting minister, communion visitor, and has preached in Pastor’s absence. Cynthia has completed her first term on council, serving on Fellowship.
Elaine Holdt has been married to Terry for 49 years and together they joined Good Hope in 2013. They have 4 grown children and 10 grandchildren. Elaine is a retired Special Education teacher. At her previous church, Elaine served on the council, the Education and Worship Boards, and as President. Here at Good Hope, Elaine is involved in Altar Guild, Bible Study, rummage sale, Priscilla Circle, and VBS. She also works on the program that projects our worship services. Elaine has completed her first term on council, serving on Fellowship.
Stephen Ley is a Professional Musician and an Assistant Band Director/Educational Assistant at Campbell Memorial High School. He comes from a large family with 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Stephen joined Good Hope in 2009 and plays drums and sings in the Leap of Faith Praise Team. He has also been an active member of our men’s group. You can often see him performing at the Youngstown Playhouse, Salem Community Theatre, and the Trinity Playhouse in Lisbon. Stephen has served previously on the council, working with fellowship.
Linda Rankin is married to Bill and they have one son, Willy. She works at South Mill Pet Care Center and Scott’s Tax Time. Linda recently finished serving three years on the Board of Trustees at the Montessori School of Mahoning Valley. Linda has been a member for over 15 years and has served as an usher at the 11:00 service, an offering counter, and has helped with Vacation Bible School.
John Robison is retired and works part-time as a custodian at Valley Christian Schools. He is married to Mary and together they have one daughter, Katrina. John has worshipped with us for four years and joined in 2018. John is a veteran of both the US and the British Navies. He serves as our Food Bank Coordinator and on the Altar Guild. Since the pandemic began, John and Katrina have served as worship assistants at our weekly casual drive-in worship services in the parking lot.
Glenn Sivak is married to Sue. He enjoys white water rafting, traveling, cooking, and gardening. He is a retired Boardman high school teacher and is currently an independent contractor. He has been a member of Good Hope since April of 2012. He was a member of the church council at Grace Lutheran in Austintown where he also was the Council President for two years. Glenn has completed his first term on council, serving on the Stewardship Committee and as Council President.
Gregg Sturrus has two daughters, Amy and Erin, and two grandchildren. He is the Chairperson of the Physics Department at Youngstown State University. Gregg has been a member of Good Hope for 28 years. He has long served as the Altar Guild Chairperson and on the Trust Fund Committee. Gregg also coached the Good Hope Bible Bowl Team. Gregg previously served on the council as Property Chairperson, Secretary, and as Council President.
Lil Williamson is married to Jon and is the mother of Kassie and Robbie. She has been a member of Good Hope for 55 years. Lil was Director and Teacher of the former Good Hope Nursery School for 23 years. She also served on Council in the 1980s on the Fellowship Committee and as the Secretary. Currently, Lil serves as an usher and lay reader, and on the Archives Committees. She has completed her first term on council, serving on Evangelism.
