Youth Giving Sunday

When do we recognize the youth of our Church?
Baptisms, birthdays, 1st communion, confirmation,
graduations- all very important events in their Church
lives. But when are they heard, when do they have a
voice in important matters of the Church?
Congregational meetings.
To have voice during these meetings, they are
required to have taken communion and give an offering
of record at least one time during the calendar year.
Therefore, Sunday, November 14th will be recognized as Youth Giving Sunday
at Good Hope. This will be an opportunity for all youth to give an offering to
any fund they wish. Special envelopes will be used. We plan to have them
available in the narthex, during Sunday School, or offerings can be mailed to
the church.
I (we) believe the importance of this is twofold. It creates a responsibility
of giving to what is important to them. Regardless of their age, they are
making an offering to what they believe in. It also meets the “giving” portion of
our voting requirements, noted in our constitutional by-laws, for congregational
meetings.
Parents, Council and I hope you will support the introduction of Youth
Giving Sunday. Thank you for your time and hopeful assistance.
